Dr. Amy Sylvester loves taking care of people. It was no surprise that her education culminated in an optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry. Her years in Boston allowed her to develop high level optometric skills. She is grateful for her learning experiences in diagnosing and treating ocular disease, which included rotations in Veteran's Hospitals in upstate New York, a busy ophthalmology clinic in Maryland, and a Community Health Centre in the North End of Boston. At graduation, Dr. Sylvester received the Dr. Hyman R. Kamens Award for dedication to the optometry community.
In 2000, she returned to Canada and has enjoyed providing primary eye care to patients of all ages. Highlighting clear communication and patient education, Dr. Sylvester looks forward to providing individualized treatment plans for those in her care. As an established optometrist, Dr. Sylvester has solid referral partnerships with many family doctors in Mississauga. She has been recognized as a Top Referring Doctor in 2019 by The Ophthalmic Consultant Centre and also co-manages patients with The Prism Eye Institute and TLC Oakville. Her dream job would be to provide eye care to the Cast Members at Disneyworld.
In her non-optometry life Dr. Sylvester's goal is to eat great food made with love and play a lot of board games with her family. She is extremely proud of her son Cole, thrives due to the love and support from her husband Ken, and recharges by exploring Stratford with those two from their "cottage" built in 1881.
